Seed, charter, and grow with us
Chapters are the heart of Mu Alpha Rho — where service, leadership, and sisterhood come to life locally. Here's how to charter a new chapter and grow with us.
From SEED to STEM
Growing a chapter happens in two key milestones.
Seed an interest group
A minimum of 10 members is required to seed and formally establish interest in starting a new chapter.
Charter a chapter
A minimum of 15 members in good standing — plus all chartering requirements below — is required to charter.
What it takes to charter
Every new chapter must meet the following requirements before receiving its charter.
Minimum of 15 members
A new chapter must have at least 15 eligible members in good standing to petition for and receive its charter.
Officer training
All required chapter officers must complete the national officer training before the chapter can charter.
Compliance rules
Complete and satisfy all national compliance rules, governance standards, and the code of conduct.
Fundraising guidelines
Review and meet the national fundraising guidelines so the chapter raises funds ethically and in compliance.
Community service hours
Complete the required community service hours, demonstrating the chapter's commitment to our charitable mission.
Eligible membership
Every charter member must meet national membership eligibility — women who currently serve or have honorably served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
From SEED to B.L.O.O.M
Chartering is a guided, step-by-step journey supported by our national expansion team.
- 1
Express interest
Submit an inquiry to our national expansion team. We'll share expectations, answer questions, and confirm your area is open for a new chapter.
- 2
Seed an interest group (10 members)
Reach a minimum of 10 members to formally seed and establish your interest group under national guidance.
- 3
Provisional colony
Operate as a colony — hold meetings, plan service, and grow toward the 15-member minimum while completing chartering requirements.
- 4
Complete chartering requirements
Finish officer training, satisfy compliance rules, meet fundraising guidelines, and complete the required community service hours.
- 5
Petition to charter (15 members)
With 15+ eligible members and all requirements met, submit your charter petition with your officer slate and chapter plan.
- 6
Charter & installation
Upon approval, your chapter receives its official charter and is installed in a formal ceremony — welcome to the sisterhood.
Staying in good standing
Chartered chapters uphold these standards to remain active and in good standing with the national organization.
- Maintain a minimum of 15 members in good standing.
- Host community service initiatives aligned with national programs.
- Hold regular chapter meetings and elect officers on schedule.
- Submit annual reports, rosters, and national dues on time.
- Uphold the values, dignity, and code of conduct of Mu Alpha Rho.
- Operate in compliance with national governance and brand standards.
